Both of my grandfathers were painters and they knew before me that I would also become a painter. As a child I used to paint with their brushes, and they were the ones who encouraged me to change my studies from Chemistry to Art when I was twenty. I haven’t stopped painting ever since.
My interest in nature, most especially my connection with trees, started in the year 2000, when I moved from Madrid to Göttingen, a small town in the heart of Germany surrounded by forests.
My work is figurative, which does not mean it is always realistic. Despite living in close contact with nature, for years I have only painted in my studio. The pleasure of painting outdoors, directly from life, is a recent discovery. I feel it helps me to train my gaze, to keep things simple and to seek the essence of whatever is around me.
Trees as a motif are always with me, and they are also present, one way or another, in my most recent works on paper and my first illustration and street art projects.

Tuve dos abuelos pintores que tenían claro que me dedicaría a la pintura antes de saberlo yo misma. Desde muy pequeña empecé a pintar con sus pinceles. Fueron ellos los que me animaron a los veinte años, a cambiar la carrera de Químicas por la de Bellas Artes y no he dejado de pintar hasta hoy.
Mi interés por la naturaleza y en concreto mi relación con los árboles, coincide con mi traslado, en el año 2000, de Madrid a Göttingen, una pequeña ciudad en el corazón de Alemania rodeada de bosques.
Mi obra es figurativa, lo que no significa que sea siempre realista. A pesar del contacto tan estrecho con la naturaleza, mi trabajo se ha desarrollado durante años dentro del estudio. El placer de pintar del natural es un descubrimiento reciente; siento que me ayuda a educar la mirada, a simplificar y a buscar la esencia de lo que me rodea.
Los árboles como motivo me acompañan siempre y están presentes de una forma u otra en trabajos recientes sobre papel o en mis primeros proyectos de ilustración y de arte urbano.
